Six Month Samantha

Samantha turned 6 months - about a month ago. She is such a sweetheart, she might actually be made out of marshmallows. This week she started clapping - loves Patty Cake - and last night out of the blue, she started babbling. This girl has a lot to say and it has been pent up for a while. Her pteradactyl screams gave way to 5 hours of constant babble last night - in full on sentences. No matter that it sounds a LOT like "Daddy" and "I do it!!" - both we hear a lot of in our house lately. She is almost a full-on sitter upper now, grabs things with her little swiper-like claws, and shows virtually no interest in rolling over, so she is getting a little bald spot in her stately locks.

Her she is with Daddy in the Public Garden.

Don't worry, she was happy - in spite of the face I captured here. I am becoming a worse photographer.

Just a little dress up...time to start the Halloween costumes.

Ha! She is s a little yogi. And with any luck, I will catch our swiper with her big toe in her mouth as she often poses.

Here she is with her "Half Birthday" Cake - which she did not get to eat. Because we only sporadically have started her on solid food and feeding Chocolate Banana Cake with Sour Cream Chocolate frosting would have been wrong. And my idea for a "half cake" was kind of half baked since it just wound u p looking like I made am (ugly) layer cake and cut it in half, rather than frosting it as a half like I did. It was not the desired effect I was going for, but the recipe will live on in history. It may be the cake my grandkids talk about as it will become part of our family lore - it was THAT good.

We went to the Children's Museum a while ago. Charlie & Elliot played. Sam just hung in the canoe.

Blanketing out in Harvard Square.

Our bookworm loves to read - well, loves to hold books in her hands and turn pages - which is an excellent precursor to reading. I liked that she let me read the Improper Bostonian by myself.

Not only is she a good reader, she likes to compute on her mini laptop above. She has yet to really discover her kitty Sheffield, even though he is often near her, like right next to her.

This is Sam on her actual 6 month birthday - Already outgrowing her Sam shirt.

Elliot Dresses Self!

With Kassi gone, time is tight to get us out the door in the morning.  Outfit quality control is just one of the many corners we are cutting - especially now that Elliot is developing opinions of her own and/or just whining for whining's sake.  So, if its weather appropriate, she wins.  Hence no picture of her in her footie pjs on a 90 degree day (we tantrummed that one out).  Here is just a few samples from the last week alone, and she wore them all to school:

Ok, so that is all one outfit day, but what a day and dance!  And her shoes are on the wrong feet (we did fix that part) and she prefers her wild lion mane down and in her face, already foreshadowing a lifetime of mommy saying "get that hair out of your face!"
She does love "Miss Bossy".  I wouldnt wear it with teal plaid shorts, but Ben helped tie it all together by layering red socks on top of teal shoes.  It actually kind of worked.
Is it Easter?  Or the 4th of July?

Hey, Miss Saigon, you are scaring that cat.  And your shades are upside down.  And are those Crocs?  You are rocking them though.

Leg warmers, not just for legs anymore, but she has some on her legs too. Under her frilly dress with matching purse.

This one looks good from afar.  Good thing we do not have a close up, but I'll hand it to my little girl, she's got her own style.  Oh! And a penchant for sweat pants and leisure slouch-wear, its so not worth photographing those.  I'll save it for winter when she is watching sports all day with daddy.
