Heard at our House

Funny my last post was called Work Life Balance and it has now taken me a month to do a new post.  Seems like I should not try that again.

Here are a few of the great conversations happening around our house.

Mommy:  We are going to a new Seafood restaurant.
Elliot:  Great!  I am learning about the sea at school and Samantha is learning about the beach!  Will they have Indigo razor fish for me to eat?
Mommy:  No, but they will have fish-n-chips.  "Chips" are french fries.
Samantha:  French Fries!  Mommy!  Can French fries swim??

And then there is our Sunday night chat:

Samantha:  Why did Uncle Brad bring over all of those kid-movies for us?
Me: to be nice.
Elliot: Probably because Uncle Brad must have a LOT of money...  Because he is a cop... And he gets to take people's wallets... and keep them.  You know, like when people go to jail.

And maybe Hero Number Nine was getting a little rowdy...Samantha said he threw up in her bed and she had to clean it up.  He also yells and wakes her up sometimes.  But somebody convinced her to change her name last week.  "Don't call me honey.  Don't call me sweetie. Don't call me Samantha.  Call me Julia-Snake."  Goodnight, Julia-Snake.

Speaking of Julia.  At Alden's 4th birthday party, I was holding her on my hip when the cake was being served.  She pointed at it and said, "I want that".  Peggy and I were astonished.  They were really only sounds that sounded like that, since she hasn't really busted out any words besides mama & papa and "mas" and agua yet, but I'll be darned if she did not say "I want that".  So she got that.  Yum.

She also wouldn't touch her chicken tenders at our Ikea lunch.  Until I told her they were "pollo, julia, pollo!" and she tried them and gobbled them up.  She only speaks Spanish.
